August 13, 2025

The “Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation in Youth Through Sports” (PRECYOUS) project, co-funded by the European Union and implemented by KMOP – Greece in partnership with the Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID), North Macedonia, has officially launched its Toolkit with Best Practices to Counter Radicalisation through Sports.

The toolkit is now available in English, Albanian, and Macedonian, ensuring broad accessibility for local authorities, youth organisations, educators, sports clubs, and civil society actors across the Western Balkans. It provides evidence-based methodologies and real-life examples that demonstrate how sports can be used as a powerful medium to build resilience, promote inclusion, and prevent violent extremism among youth.

Developed under Activity 4.2 – Work Package 4, the toolkit compiles best practices and practical tools for integrating sports-based initiatives into broader community engagement efforts. It highlights how teamwork, mutual respect, and social cohesion fostered through sports can help young people develop a sense of belonging and purpose, reducing their vulnerability to extremist ideologies

“This publication marks a milestone in the PRECYOUS project, showcasing how sports can become a unifying force to promote tolerance, dialogue, and resilience among young people,” said a project team member during the launch.

The toolkit draws on experiences and lessons learned from the project’s implementation in North Macedonia, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between municipalities, CSOs, and youth organisations in preventing radicalisation and promoting social inclusion.

The complete toolkit in all three languages can now be accessed and downloaded via the official project website  www.precyous.mk.

Read it in English, Albanian and Macedonian.
